A few years ago Primesite took a sabbatical and spent some time in Spain and undertook the reformation of a village house in the whitewashed Andalucian village of Colmenar, in the mountains thirty
minutes north of Malaga.
The project entailed a complete rebuild of a terraced village house. It was almost derelict with considerable damp problems, rotten beams and very primitive kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Everything was stripped out to leave a shell with neither a roof nor floors.

Downstairs the kitchen/diner was transformed using rustic terracotta slabs, solid wood kitchen and earthy paint tones and tiles.
Whilst in the lounge the insect infected eucalyptus beams were replaced with pine beams which were were left exposed. An old fireplace was uncovered and rustic features were incorporated.
Upstairs the roof level was raised and a new bathroom was fitted into the space shown. This also allowed for the installation of French doors and a Juliet balcony for the adjacent bedroom.

The French doors are framed beautifully by the original stonework which was painstakingly uncovered, cleaned, re-pointed and sealed.
Outside the garden and rear of the house were given a real face lift.
